Introduction:
The Upper Kotmale Hydropower Project
will be implemented through five separate contracts comprising Lots 1
to 5. Lot 4 – Electro Mechanical Equipment is a turnkey contract and the
Lot 4 contractor is responsible for the design, supply, installation and
commissioning of the equipment listed below under the title scope of work.
Scope of Works:
Turbine
- Two (2) 77,000 kW vertical shaft Francis type
turbines, suitable for direct coupling to the generator.
- Two (2) governor, complete with controls, oil
pressure system, compressed air system and accessories.
- Two (2) Spherical type inlet valves, each complete
with operating and control equipment.
- Water supply system and Drainage and Dewatering

Generator
- Two (2) 88,000 kVA alternating current generators
suitable for direct coupling to the turbine provided under Section 2.1

Construction and Procurement schedule
The contract period is approximately
46 months (3yrs and 10 months). It is expected that the Lot 4 works would
commence by end of 2005 and completed in the last quarter of 2009.
